The story behind the fragrance
I had rented a chalet in Hakuba, in the mountains of Nagano, to spend a few months painting.
After every wash, I hung my laundry outside. As it dried, it took on the scent of the forest. Mingling with that freshness were the woods of the chalet, the oil paint, the acrylics, and the turpentine in my studio.
That encounter stayed with me: extraordinarily clean linen, infused with the landscape and the life of a painter.
Clean East. Wood grew from my desire to rediscover that scent. Luminous cotton, Japanese woods, a resinous nuance recalling turpentine, and a veil of incense.
ON SKIN. ON FABRIC.
