“The starting point is something I have lived, seen, or felt. A photograph lets me hold on to an instant. Sculpture lets me explore a form and its relationship with space. Travel changes the way I notice light, materials, and places. Perfume gives me another way to work with those impressions: to turn a memory into something we can wear.”
Corpus Opus Édition grew from the desire to bring these practices together and share them through a gallery. The first collection draws on Yaz’s photography, sculpture, journeys, and memories. Future collaborations will bring another artist’s work into this dialogue, with Yaz and the artist creating its accompanying fragrance together.
01 / PHOTOGRAPHYHold an instant.
A street, a face, a landscape. The photograph preserves a point of view and opens the story.
02 / SCULPTUREGive feeling a form.
Working with volume, texture, and space becomes a way to think about the shape and contrasts of a fragrance.
03 / TRAVELCarry a place with you.
The freshness of water, forest shade, warm stone, or the energy of a city becomes material for an olfactory exploration.
The stories behind the bottles.
In Clean East. Wood, laundry drying outside a painting studio in the Japanese mountains holds the scent of a forest and an artist’s daily life. Rue de la Muse begins with a summer photograph near Lake Geneva: cool water, forest shade, and the quiet of the mountains. 402 returns to skateboarding, friendship, and the freedom of youth.
Other creations grow from an encounter with art. New York Abidjan grew from conversations with Fab Five Freddy in Bali, his memories of his friend Jean-Michel Basquiat, and my artwork The Missed Flight. These connections between people, places, and art eventually became a fragrance.
Each bottle is an entrance into a work and its story. Follow it to discover the image, the experience behind it, and its olfactory interpretation. In future collaborations, the artwork and the fragrance will be presented together, crediting the artist and the shared creation with Yaz.
